WelcomeHazey River
This peaceful and scenic nature reserve in the heart of a malaria-free area of Mpumalanga can be found on the R40 just 25km from either White River or Hazyview and a mere 45 minutes from the Kruger National Park.
Hazey River Reserve is a secure 50-hectare Estate with a 2.5km waterfront boundary on the Da Gama Dam. Da Gama Dam is an earth-fill/gravity-type dam on the Witwaters River, near White River, Mpumalanga, South Africa. It was established in 1971, and its primary purpose is irrigation. Non-motorized water sports are allowed on the dam, but the homeowner must be a member of the Forest Sailing Club.
Within the reserve are walking trails where you may experience diverse birdlife, as well as bushbuck, troops of banded mongoose and vervet monkeys. However, the reserve is adamant that all animals are treated with respect, and homeowners and visitors are not allowed to encourage the wildlife by feeding any animal, as they are wild, not pets.
The estate consists of permanent homeowners and guests who occasionally rent holiday homes.
